Financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, and implemented by Ege Teknopark under the Competitive Sectors Program of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the opening ceremony of the advanced prototyping center, the Ege Deep Technology Factory, a component of the Ege D-Tech Project established on the campus of Ege University, was held on March 19, 2024, with the honorable presence of the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih KACIR.
The ceremony was opened by the Rector of Ege University, Prof. Dr. Necdet BUDAK, who stated that the Ege Deep Technology Factory is a testament to Ege University’s commitment to science and innovation. Prof. Dr. BUDAK expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih KACIR, for his attendance and support.
Following Prof. Dr. Necdet BUDAK, the Governor of İzmir, Dr. Süleyman ELBAN, addressed the attendees, emphasizing their goal to transform İzmir into a new center of innovation and technology and expressing his thanks to Minister Mehmet Fatih KACIR for his support towards this goal.
Justice and Development Party (AKP) Youth Branches Chairman and İzmir Deputy, Mr. Eyyüp Kadir İNAN, in his speech, highlighted that İzmir, with its determined and patriotic young entrepreneurs, is advancing non-stop in line with our principle of the National Technology Initiative. He thanked Minister Mehmet Fatih KACIR for his support and trust in young entrepreneurs.
In his address, the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Mehmet Fatih KACIR, remarked that İzmir, the pearl of the Aegean, is also the city of industry, commerce, science, and technology:
“This investment of 6.5 million euros will enable the commercialization of unique and innovative business ideas in deep technologies in İzmir and the surrounding regions. This project, hosting a plethora of facilities such as production, prototyping, state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, and capacity building activities, will open the doors of the world to our young entrepreneurs and pioneers of innovation. With our vision of the National Technology Initiative, we are building a Türkiye that develops and produces technology, through the new startups, techno-enterprises, and Turcorns born from our projects.”
The ceremony continued with the presentation of an art piece representing Ege University by Prof. Dr. Necdet BUDAK to the Minister. Following the presentation, Minister Mehmet Fatih KACIR, who inaugurated the Ege Deep Technology Factory, expressed his wishes for the center and its devices to contribute to our vision of the National Technology Initiative.
After the opening, Minister KACIR visited the Ege Deep Technology Factory, closely inspecting the devices available in our Factory.
