The second Capacity Building Training for the representatives of the Ege Teknopark, Ege University and EGIAD within the scope of the Ege D-Tech Project, implemented by Ege Teknopark and financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkiye, run within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, was held under the title of “Peer Learning Training on Managing and Running a Deep-Tech Focused Incubator“. In the two-day training held at Ege University – AROM Project Event Centre on 09 – 10 March 2023, fundamental topics on the implementation and execution of deep technology-focused incubation centres were covered.
The two-day training started on 09 March 2023 with opening speeches by Ege D-Tech Project Coordinator and Ege Teknopark Deputy General Manager Anıl Baybura and Project Technical Assistance Team Leader Philip Sowden. The trainers, Serkan Bolat, Dora Marosvolgyi and Iztok Lesjak, explained that the programme was structured specifically for the upcoming incubation centre – which will be focusing on Deep Technology, and will be implemented by Ege Teknopark as part of the project.
The programme started with a session on developing a strategy and business plan for the incubation centre. In this interactive session, participants worked in groups on the objectives of the incubation centre to be implemented under the Ege D-Tech Project. The first day, in which the key elements of the management mechanism of the centre were also examined, concluded with the evaluation of the outputs of the group work.
The second day started with a session examining successful examples of incubation centres focused on Deep Technology and the support offered within the centres from Slovenia, Hungary and Turkiye, and continued with group work in which the participants adapted the models they found successful to Ege Teknopark. The last day, in which the management and operational structures of successful centres were examined, ended with a “Q&A” session.
The Deep Technology Incubation Center (Ege D-Tech) Project, run by Ege Technopark, is carried out within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Program (RSP), co-financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union. The project, implemented with the participation of Ege University and the Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGIAD), is planned to be completed in 3 years with a budget of 3 million Euros. Dozens of projects implemented within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey contribute to the creation of a more competitive and innovative ecosystem for entrepreneurs and SMEs in Turkey.
