A two-day experience sharing event for deep-tech investors was held within the scope of the Ege D-Tech Project, run under the joint financing of the European Union and the Republic of Turkiye, as part of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkiye, implemented by Ege Teknopark in partnership with Ege University and EGIAD. In the event titled “Experienced Sharing for Deep Tech Investors” hosted by EGİAD, deep-tech investors came together to discuss their experiences and challenges. The investors shared their experiences and key learnings in deep technology with expert speakers moderating the event.
The two-day experience sharing event was held on April 27-28 at the EGIAD Social and Cultural Activities Centre, led by experienced speakers and investors Mark Priest, Imre Hild, and Erman Turan. The programme started with an informative session about the project, which was delivered by Ege D-Tech Project Coordinator and Ege Teknopark Deputy General Manager Anıl Baybura and the Project Technical Assistance Team Incubation Specialist Péter Mogyorósi.
During the two-day event, which was actively participated by investors, the focus was on increasing awareness of angel investors with regards to their deep tech-based ventures. The event, examined national and global cases, particularly from the perspective of Izmir ecosystem, and highlighted the development of deep tech entrepreneurship in the Turkish startup and innovation ecosystem in recent years.
Within the scope of the event, approaches of venture capital and angel investors for deep technology investment were evaluated in the UK, Hungarian, and Turkish ecosystems, and the different investment needs of deep tech startups in Turkiye were also discussed. The event also addressed the points to be considered in investment negotiations with global examples. The speakers also shared successful “exit” stories with the participants. The event concluded with a summary of the topics evaluated under the program, including discussions on “Smart Investment” and post-investment goals.
The Deep Technology Incubation Center (Ege D-Tech) Project, run by Ege Technopark, is carried out within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Program (RSP), co-financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union. The project, implemented with the participation of Ege University and the Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGIAD), is planned to be completed in 3 years with a budget of 3 million Euros. Dozens of projects implemented within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey contribute to the creation of a more competitive and innovative ecosystem for entrepreneurs and SMEs in Turkey.
