A Two – Day Training on Fund and Grant Management Took Place

Within the framework of the financial cooperation between the Republic of Turkiye and the European Union, within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkiye, a training focused on the efficient use of financial resources was held within the scope of the Ege D-Tech Project implemented by Ege Teknopark. In the training, which was exclusively organised for the participation of the representatives of the project implementer Ege Teknopark and project partners Ege University and Aegean Young Business People’s Association (EGİAD), important aspects regarding the management of financial incentives provided to deep technology-focused entrepreneurs were addressed.

In the training held at Ege Palas Business Hotel on 13 – 14 April 2023, Gerard O’Brien, Director of International Development Ireland, covered important points concerning the financial support to be provided to deep technology-based startups and entrepreneurs within the scope of Ege Teknopark and Ege D-Tech Project.

The two-day training started with Ege D-Tech Project Coordinator and Ege Teknopark Deputy General Manager Anıl Baybura and Project Technical Assistance Team Leader Philip Sowden sharing their expectations from the programme. On the first day of the training, trainer Gerard O’Brien provided content specially prepared for Ege Teknopark and Ege D-Tech project. The importance of funding and grant support in the growth and globalisation journey of deep technology-oriented startups was evaluated. In a session examining the role of incubation centres in the investment preparation processes of entrepreneurs, practices from European Union countries were also discussed.

On the last day of the training, investment strategies to be implemented within the framework of the Deep Technology Focused Incubation Centre to be structured under the project, issues related to fund and grant management and financial planning were also discussed in detail. The training, in which Altan Küçükçınar, co-founder of Diffusion Capital Partners, took part as a speaker, ended with a group study titled “D-Tech Seed Stage Funding Strategy”.

The Deep Technology Incubation Center (Ege D-Tech) Project, run by Ege Technopark, is carried out within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Program (RSP), co-financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union. The project, implemented with the participation of Ege University and the Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGIAD), is planned to be completed in 3 years with a budget of 3 million Euros. Dozens of projects implemented within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey contribute to the creation of a more competitive and innovative ecosystem for entrepreneurs and SMEs in Turkey.
