Ege D-Tech Project: “Deep Technology Incubation Centers Research Report” Workshop

The Deep Technology Incubation Centres Research Report Workshop was held within the scope of the Ege D-Tech Project, implemented by Ege Teknopark within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Programme of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkiye, co-financed by the Republic of Turkiye and the European Union. The workshop was attended by the project executor Ege Teknopark, project partners Ege University and EGIAD members. At the “Deep Technology Incubation Centres Research Report” Workshop, the outputs of the report were evaluated and further developed with the contributions of 20 participants on 2 December 2022 at Academico Izmir.

The event was opened with an introductory session about the project by Ege D-Tech Project Coordinator and Ege Teknopark Deputy General Manager Anıl Baybura, which was followed by a vote of thanks to Ege University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak for his support to the project. Mr Baybura was joined by the Technical Assistance Team Leader Dr. Rein Ruubel, who explained the theme and purpose of the workshop, emphasising the importance of the participants’ active contribution to the project. There followed a presentation by Senior Expert Tutku Asarkaya, who explained the objectives of the workshop and shared the methodology and research report.

In the first session of the programme titled “Deep Technology and Entrepreneurs”, the participants focused on relevant sectors, technologies and actors. The session was concluded interactively with the feedback and contributions of the stakeholders. In the afternoon session, the workshop focused on “Successful Examples from USA, EU and Turkiye for Deep Technology Centres and Facilities”. The session continued exploring important themes, such as Incubation Centre Income Models, Sustainability Approaches and facility management. Then the participants discussed the findings of the research in detail. The session saw the participants from EGIAD, Ege University and Ege Teknopark review the research report in extensive depth, and evaluate the proposed roadmap for Networking with International Partners. The workshop concluded with the comments and contributions of the participants.

The second workshop to evaluate the “State-of-the-art-Report” will be held on 20 December 2022 with the participation of project partners as well as experienced Incubation and Acceleration Programme managers.

The Deep Technology Incubation Center (Ege D-Tech) Project, run by Ege Technopark, is carried out within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Program (RSP), co-financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union. The project, implemented with the participation of Ege University and the Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGIAD), is planned to be completed in 3 years with a budget of 3 million Euros. Dozens of projects implemented within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey contribute to the creation of a more competitive and innovative ecosystem for entrepreneurs and SMEs in Turkey.
