EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities are dynamic and creative partnerships that harness European innovation and entrepreneurship to find solutions to major societal challenges in areas with high innovation potential – and create quality jobs and growth. The Knowledge and Innovation Communities carry out activities that cover the entire innovation chain: training and education programmes, reinforcing the journey from research to the market, innovation projects, as well as business incubators and accelerators. The EIT’s role is to guide the process and set the strategies, but it’s up to the Innovation Communities to put these into practice and provide results. There are currently nine Innovation Communities and each focuses on a different societal challenge:

-EIT Food: Leading a global revolution in food innovation and production
-EIT Health: Giving EU citizens greater opportunities to enjoy a healthy life

-EIT Manufacturing: Strengthening and increasing the competitiveness of Europe’s manufacturing industry
-EIT Raw Materials: Developing raw materials into a major strength for Europe
-EIT Urban Mobility: Smart, green and integrated transport
-EIT Culture & Creativity: Transforming Europe’s Cultural & Creative Sectors and Industries
